School of Ranch is a Central Oregon-based volunteer-run 501c3 nonprofit. We don't have a schoolhouse. We host workshops all over Central Oregon. When the weather is good, we do a lot outside. When it's not, that's when we need the most help.
Outdoor workshops are attended by between 20 and 40 people. These workshop topics are often related to the property's use - livestock, farming, etc. People bring their own seating. We need around five tables, which we have, but it's better if the facility has some. These workshops usually don't require AV and have low power needs. We often hold a potluck meal at outdoor events.
Classroom workshops are attended by 15 and 30 people. They typically just require tables and chairs. The workshop leader will often need a table to hold examples of display materials. We often need to run a slideshow. The best space give us flexibility to put people into groups. Power demands are low. These workshops usually have a potluck meal, but do not require a kitchen. A sink is nice.
Demo workshop are attended by between 10 and 20 people. These workshops are usually indoors, in a space where it's ok to get a little messy. You ever make pickles? Then you know. We need tables and chairs and some power but usually not a lot. We need AV at timea. Demo workshops sometimes also have a potluck, so a sink is useful
Hands-on workshop have between 6 and 10 participants. Participants work with tools and equipment, from small hand tools to chainsaws. They mix stuff to make soap, carve spoons, and fix small motors. There is more mess at these, mostly sawdust and the occasional spill. We always take of this though. Some of these have much great power supply needs, like the ability to run six grinders at one.
Our workshops create common ground for people regardless of politics, age, background or beliefs. If you believe that's important in America today, help us make it happen by hosting us.
We have a $1M/$2M liability insurance policy. We're very responsible with places that aren't ours, as is our community. We're tiny and are almost complete self-funded: We can't afford to pay rent. If you would consider hosting us once a while, it would be huge. If you are busines, we can offer some cross-promotion and other marketing benefits.
