Whether you're looking to build sturdy tables, chairs, or cabinets, journeyman carpenter Jonathan Chatman will guide you through every step. By the end, you’ll have hands-on experience constructing a furniture project from the ground up—and the know-how to tackle future builds with confidence.

Jonathan Chatman discovered his life's passion while building tree houses as a boy. Jonathan joined the Army Corps of Engineers in 2004, where he was trained and excelled in carpentry, masonry, and plumbing. After his time in the service, he embarked on a career as a journeyman carpenter. Mr. Chatman has a wide range of knowledge and experience and loves to teach willing learners. Jonathan is now retired living in Prineville with his beautiful wife and 6 children.
Wear work-appropriate clothing for a shop environment—long hair tied back, close-toed shoes, and layers for comfort in our heated space.
Bring your own safety gear (eye protection and work gloves). Wear durable clothing and boots, and pack a camp chair, water, and a snack.

School of Ranch is a Central Oregon based 501c3 nonprofit. We hire experienced locals to teach practical and artisan skills, live and in person. Beyond teaching skills and helping grow our workshop leader's businesses, we create common ground for neighbors.
