Carving Curious: Intro to Wood Carving

Carve out Time to Carve!

Take a beginner dive into wood carving. In this three-hour hands-on workshop, you'll learn to carve a spoon using just a single chisel. We walk you through the carving process step by step, and send you home with your own carving kit — perfect for continuing your carving adventures.

Ahmad Khalid Rauofi

 Ahmad Khalid Rauofi is a master woodcarver who trained in Kabul, Afghanistan, completing an intensive three-year woodworking program after high school. His work blends the rich traditions of Afghan woodcarving with his own artistic vision. Now based in Portland, Oregon, Ahmad shares his craft with beginners through welcoming, hands-on workshops that introduce the fundamentals of carving.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How should I dress?

Wear comfortable clothes; we'll be indoors. Close-toed, sturdy shoes are a must in case something sharp decides to escape your hands. 

What should I bring

We supply everything but chairs.  Bring one along!  ::)

What about kiddos?

For safety reasons, this workshop is open to participants aged 16 and older. Remember, everyone must have their own ticket!

What about food?

We won’t be serving food, so pack a snack and water if you’ll need a little energy boost.
