A key step on the path to self-reliance is learning how to build things from wood. In this hands-on workshop, you'll be guiding through the step-by-steps of making a structure from wood. You will join our skilled framer to construct an elevated pathway made entirely of wood, and learn skills you can apply in other construction projects. Whether you're ready to take on bigger projects, an aspiring carpenter, or want to become more self-sufficient, this workshop offers an hands-on training in skills that will last a lifetime. Sign up for either session (they are both the same). Limited to 10 per session.

Framing and setting are the core of construction. Under our instructor's expert guidance, you'll learn the correct techniques to create a stable and well-structured project. From measurements to joinery, this segment will empower you with skills you will use frequently as you build new project or maintain existing ones.
Nothing instills pride like a well constructed, good looking outcome. You'll be able to create a polished look while ensuring the longevity of your project. Our instructor will guide you through techniques for sanding, sealing, and adding those final details that enhance both the appearance and durability of your pathway.

Bring your own safety gear - eye protection and work gloves. Wear clothing appropriate for outdoor work. Preferably wear boots with a steel or otherwise protected toes
This workshop is designed for adults and involves specific tools and materials that may not be suitable or safe for children. We want to maintain a focused and secure environment for all participants.
School of Ranch is a Central Oregon based 501c3 nonprofit. We hire experienced locals to teach practical homestead skills, live and in person. Beyond teaching skills and creating paying gigs, we help strengthen our community by bringing people together for live learning environments that encourage the development of trust and empathy.
