Choose from Three Projects

Go home with one of three projects or make your own (up to ten horseshoes provided)!  After this class you can buy an entry model wire feed welder and build other projects at home.  Or take our practical welding workshop series and learn to fix stuff around the ranch.

Safety First

We take safety seriously.  You will be required to wear proper clothing, helmets, and eye protection. We rent helmets and gloves, or you can bring your own. You will be taught safe procedures and materials handling.  We will not tolerate unsafe behavior.

WORKSHOP LEADER

Meet Joe Slattery

Joe Slattery is professional welder and metalworker. Originally from Arizona, Joe has called Central Oregon home for decades. He cut his welding teeth with Lockheed, eventually running their training and induction program for new welders.  Joe has worked on everything metal under the sun,  and his metal shop is a showcase of technology and useful equipment.  Underneath that welders exterior though beats the heart of a true education.  Joe is patient and a great communicator, and has been able to help everyone from teenagers to crusty old ranch hands build welding skills.  We're very lucky to have Joe on our team, and are sure you will enjoy his workshops.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Happy welder

Who can attend this workshop?

This class is for adults !8+.  Minors can attend if accompanied by an adult.

Where are the workshops held?

They will be held in Powell Butte in the shop of the trainer, a professional welder.  We have six training stations setup.  In additional to basic flex core welding, the shop a variety of powerful welders include TIG and a plasma cutter, and a range of metal working equipment.

Can I bring my own design?

We have three designs for you, but if you want to bring your own, and it uses 10 or fewer horseshoes, then we'll help you give it go.  Please do no bring extra horseshoes as they likely will need a lot of prep time.

Do I need to bring my own equipment?

We supply welders and you can rent gloves and a helmet from us, or you can bring you own.  You must bring your own safety glass and wear appropriate clothing - no synthetic, heavy shirt and pants (jeans are ok), and leather shoes.  Bring earplugs!

Does everyone get their own welder?

Yes.  We limit attendance to six people, and have six stations each with its own welder.
