Learn pasture management and livestock grazing practices! All workshops include a potluck dinner!

These workshops offer insights and practical skills to enhance the health of your pastures and livestock.
Topics at this workshop include the sins of overgrazing, techniques for rotational grazing, pasture grass species, and a brief talk about poisonous plants in pastures. If you are an aspiring pastoralist, please join us if you want to understand the sins of overgrazing, know the benefits of windbreaks, visualize rotational grazing, be able to identify poison and water hemlock, and take an interesting farm tour.

Scott is an assistant professor at OSU. He is well known, liked and respected among local farmers and ranchers. His outreach and extension program focuses on horse and livestock production and management. Additionally, pasture management and forage are an integral part of his programming. Scott's research focuses on livestock management and forage production in pastures.
Please contribute what you want and can to attend. We suggest $20 help cover the cost of the workshop or $30 to help us cover our operating costs. We are all nonprofits, and these workshops cost between $600 and $800 to produce. Thanks for helping us be able to continue to deliver these workshops!
School of Ranch is about building community, and nothing helps connect people like sharing a meal, particularly if that meal is a potluck. We always supply a main protein and rely on attendees to make it a feast. Please bring your own plates and silverware to help save the planet, but we provide disposable options if you don't. We don't publish a list of what people are bringing, but things that always go are homemade casserole, pasta dishes, and yummy deserts. People also love potato chips, various sides and salads

Dress comfortably for the workshops on a ranch. These are working ranches, so you know the drill. It can get cool in the evenings.

School of Ranch is a Central Oregon based 501c3 nonprofit. We hire experienced locals to teach practical and artisan skills, live and in person. Beyond teaching skills and creating paying gigs, we help strengthen our community by bringing people together in person and helping them find common ground, the basis for a strong community.
