James Hettick
The first thing you notice about James is the rocks, which he quickly will point out are not just rocks, but gemstones that he and his partner found. He's a highly trained handyman and mechanic who enjoys nothing more than sharing what he knows and building skills in others. A native of Culver, he enlisted in the Marines, where was trained in automotive, jet turbine and solid fuel rocket mechanics, earning many certifications along the way. He returned to Central Oregon looking to give back to his community, share his skills and hobbies.

Can I attend with my kid?
Yes. Please be sure that your kid will to remain attentive in the classroom sessions and well behaved in the lab. That goes for all adults, too!
What is School of Ranch?
School of Ranch is a Central Oregon based 501c3 nonprofit. We hire experienced locals to teach practical homestead skills, live and in person. Beyond teaching skills and creating paying gigs, we help strengthen our community by bringing people together for live learning environments that encourage the development of trust and empathy.
