Learning to tow a trailer doesn’t have to be intimidating. This hands-on workshop is perfect for beginners looking to learn the essentials of trailer safety and driving. From understanding your rig to tackling tight turns and smooth backups, you’ll practice with your own equipment under the guidance of an expert. Whether you’re hauling hay or heading to the trailhead, you’ll leave with skills you can use right away.

Discover the nuts and bolts of safe towing! We’ll cover everything from identifying the key components of your tow vehicle and trailer to understanding how towing impacts your driving dynamics.
You’ll get real-world experience practicing hook-ups, pre-trip inspections, and fine-tuning trailer brakes. Then, test your skills on a tight driving course to learn both forward navigation and backing up.
Kelly is a life-long resident of Central Oregon with over 40 years experience driving & towing personal trailers, as well as Deschutes County Sheriffs Office trailers and equipment. He has completed Skid Car and Emergency Vehicle Operations training on multiple occasions. For the last 10+ years he has been responsible for certifying Deschutes County Search & Rescue to tow trailers.
