
Learn the fundamentals of safe and effective trailer towing in this interactive, hands-on steering wheel workshop. Designed for beginners, this session will cover understanding tow vehicle and trailer components, proper hook-up techniques, and how towing impacts driving dynamics. Participants will practice with their own vehicles and trailers in the IITR truck driving yard to gain practical experience in adjusting trailer brakes, navigating a tight driving course, and executing backing-up maneuvers. Taught by professional truck driving instructors, you will head home with more confidence and skill on the road.

You’ll get real-world experience practicing hook-ups, pre-trip inspections, and fine-tuning trailer brakes. Then, test your skills on a tight driving course to learn both forward navigation and backing up.






Kelly is a life-long resident of Central Oregon with over 40 years experience driving & towing personal trailers, as well as Deschutes County Sheriffs Office trailers and equipment. He has completed Skid Car and Emergency Vehicle Operations training on multiple occasions. For the last 10+ years he has been responsible for certifying Deschutes County Search & Rescue to tow trailers.

IITR is a private truck driving school in Redmond. It is the oldest continually licensed truck school in Oregon and Washington. They have trained over 30,000 students.
