We meet once a month and alternate between horse-related books, and videos. The best part? Members suggest the books and videos, so the club evolves with the interests of the group. Expect thoughtful conversation, shared experiences, and plenty of horse nerding-out—no riding required. No cost, no commitment, just bring your curiosity, point of view, and learn together with like-minded horse-loving neighbors.

Cathy Springman is an enthusiastic student of the horse and loves sharing information that sparks conversation and connection. As leader of this horse-focused book and video club, she enjoys creating a welcoming space where everyone feels comfortable and fellow horse lovers get together for thoughtful conversation, shared learning, and a little inspiration along the way. When she’s not reading or listening to an equestrian podcast, she’s out on Central Oregon trails with her Tennessee Walkers, horse camping or attending a School of Ranch equine workshop.

Is this a religious or political group?
Nope. This club is intentionally non-religious and apolitical.
Do I need to own or ride horses?
Not at all. A love of horses—or curiosity about them—is plenty.
What is School of Ranch?
School of Ranch is a Central Oregon based 501c3 nonprofit. We hire experienced locals to teach practical and artisan skills, live and in person. Beyond teaching skills and helping grow our workshop leader’s businesses, we create common ground for neighbors. School of Ranch brings together people regardless of politics, age, background or beliefs.
