This beginner-friendly workshop is your guide to raising happy, healthy chickens in Central Oregon’s unique climate. Learn how to choose the best breeds, create a cozy coop, and keep your flock thriving year-round. Whether you’re aiming for fresh eggs or charming backyard company, you’ll leave ready to start your poultry adventure. This workshop is brought to you by the Deschutes Public Library. Registration opens 30 days before the workshop on their site.

Shannon Kane owns Wild Grown Farm and has over a decade of experience growing edible nursery stock commercially. A permaculture and regenerative agriculture expert, Shannon and her family operate a thriving pastured poultry farm and edible plant nursery in Central Oregon.
Taylor Kane is a direct to consumer pastured poultry farmer in Redmond, Oregon. He raises a diverse array of poultry including chickens, ducks, turkeys and geese. His background as a high-level athlete and coach led to his desire to raise the most nutrient-dense and ethically raised protein for his community. Taylor holds an MBA and is passionate about building truly sustainable businesses.
