Flavored vinegars are a fantastic way to infuse everyday dishes with a burst of flavor. You'll discover how simple it is to customize vinegar with your favorite herbs, fruits, and spices. These creations not only elevate your cooking but also make beautiful, handcrafted gifts that show you put thought and care into each bottle. And you'll make your own bottle to take home!
Shrubs, the sweet-tart syrups made from fruit, sugar, and vinegar, are equally versatile. They can be mixed into cocktails, mocktails, or even drizzled over desserts for a refreshing twist. In this workshop, you'll learn the basics of shrub-making, exploring different flavor combinations that will leave your taste buds tingling. Best of all, these make for charming, personalized gifts that everyone will appreciate.
Food preservation, when done right, is a safe, nutritious, economical, and tasty way to feed your family. Your safety is our first priority. Our workshop leader was trained by OSU Extension, and we follow OSU Extension guidelines for safe practices. We encourage you to visit OSU Extension's website for great recipes, tips, and more on safe practices.
Beth is a well trained and deeply experienced food preservation expert. Beyond food preservation skills, Beth is a renowned mural artist. Before leaving her art career and moving here from Ohio six years ago, Beth studied up on desert gardening. On arrival, she became the garden department manager at a local retailer. When her suggestions to stock climate appropriate plants went nowhere, she started High&Dry GardenWorks, her own lab for propagating plants that can thrive with limited water, excessive sun and wind, and deer. Under High&Dry, Beth is rehabbing her non-irrigated 10 acres with natives, maintaining her “Wildlife Habitat” and “Pollinator Pathway” certifications, and building bluebird nesting boxes. Beth says High & Dry is about making a difference, by sharing her failures as well as her successes.
