Making soap is a lot like baking. Elly's process doesn't require a heat source. The heat comes from the chemical reaction that causes ingredients to bind. Elly will take you step-by-step through the process. You work with only three ingredients that combined in different amount allow to vary the strength of your soap. You learn safe practices and super secret tips!
But wait, there's more! You get the soap-making kit, step-by-step instruction, access to Elly, and....you keep the soap you make! There's nothing more fun than using the things you make, particularly in a world of disposable everything. Hand-made soap makes a valued gift, and build traditional skills like this keeps them alive for the next generation. Not bad for an afternoon!
Meet Elly Jochman. While Elly would probably rather be in her soap shed working on her latest concoction, she can't resits the change to spread her love of soap making to her Central Oregon Neighbors. When it comes to soap, Elly has years of deep experience that started as a hobby and has blossomed into a successful company. She specializes in creating small batches of artful, gift worthy hand poured soap. When she does leave her shed, and when she's not teaching, Elly loves sailing! And we're sure she knows how to clean up afterwards!
Lye is a key element in traditional soap making, but don't fret, there will be no lye in your soap when completed. Lye is the catalyst that makes the process work, and the chemical reaction it creates ends up removing it all from the finished product. We'll teach you how to use this ancient ingredient safely.
We are working on the location but it will be in the Redmond/Bend area.
